Wedding Gown Trend: Ruffles and Tiers

So much excitement around the blogosphere this week with the upcoming launch of Anthropologie‘s wedding gown offshoot, BHLDN (pronounced “beholden”). Some of our favorite bloggers were invited to a preview of the line and they brought back some sweet little goodies to tide us over until the online store launches on Valentine’s Day. Cannot wait for Monday! See their posts here, here, here and here. In the BHLDN line and others, we’ve noticed lots and lots of tiers and ruffles lately…and we LOVE it! So feminine, so pretty. Here’s a roundup of some of our favorite wedding gowns, all tiered and ruffled, for your girly enjoyment!

A little sneak peek from BHLDN. On the right, two of our favorite bloggers, Amanda from Ruffled and Joy from Oh Joy! model two gems.
A couple of simple but stunning gowns from one of our new fave dress lines, Ivy & Aster.
Check out these beautiful designs from our A Soolip Wedding partner, Claire Pettibone. So excited to see her fashion show at the event! You can still get tickets here!
French wedding gown line, Cymbeline, is making quite an impression on us lately. We also love how the photo shoot is set on the streets of Paris. How romantic!
We couldn’t have a complete wedding gown discussion without including gown goddess, Jenny Packham. Her dresses are beyond amazing! They’re intricate and detailed, yet unfussy. Enjoy the prettiness!

Hitched Round 2…

Leave it to the Hitched gals to get us out to the desert for the 2nd edition of their awesome wedding showcase.  After a fun and inspiring night at the oh so hip Ace Hotel Palm Springs, we were extremely reluctant to leave!  Unfortunately, I, as our resident photog, forgot my camera (idiot!), but luckily a friend came to the rescue and we managed to get a few images to share with you all.

First thing out front, we were greeted by this awesome car styled by Jen and Jamie of ban.do .

And who can resist the classic paper bag clad PBR?

We were SO excited to run into our favorite girls, Stephanie and Beth from Whoa Nelly Catering, who helped us party the night away.  Keep your eyes peeled for a vendor spotlight on these two later this month!

We always love seeing the creative stylings our fellow designers come up with for table decor.  Check out this lovely number by Carter + Cook Event Co. and the following whimsical centerpiece by Ashley Meaders!

If you EVER need a fabulous make over or just beautiful makeup, hit up Jaimi Brooks and her wonderful team at Fiore Beauty.  I had my first neon eyeshadow experience along with some easy to apply individual lashes.

What’s a great event without some inspired entertainment?  Kelly, Paige and Audrey pulled out all the stops for their fashion show, styled by Catherine Sheppard of The Life Styled, and with a unique and exciting performance by the synchronized swim team Aqualilies!

For those of you who don’t know…..  Miss Robin Baab is a maverick on the dance floor! If you want to keep your party dancing into the wee hours of the night, The Flash Dance does such a great job of playing the songs you can’t help but move to. I STILL have Cee Lo stuck in my head!

Thanks to everyone involved in producing this rockin’ event and thanks to our ladies who made it such a fun get away.  Can’t wait ’til the next one!

A Soolip Wedding

We are thrilled to announce that we will be exhibiting at A Soolip Wedding this year! This event “presents a distinctive and well-edited collection of personally-selected resources for the discriminating modern bride seeking a wedding reflective of Soolip’s contemporary and refined aesthetic.”

We attended last year’s event at the gorgeous Vibiana event space downtown with our mouths agape as we experienced the beauty and creativity of the featured exhibitors. Who knew that one year later we would get to join in on the fun?

This year’s event will be held at the beautiful Bel Air Bay Club in Pacific Palisades. Please join us on Sunday, March 6th from 11am-3pm. Purchase your tickets here!

Gotta run…we have a lot of work to do!

Holla at Halloween!

We know, we know…… Christmas is only a week away and we’re just now posting about Halloween!  It’s been a great, but BUSY holiday season and we are so excited to share the following pictures from our Halloween installation at Hotel Erwin this year.  The project was so fun and challenging.  We created a family fun activity center in the Hotel’s main restaurant, HASH, and a more sophisticated, gothic cocktail party for the rooftop bar, HIGH.

Production for this event was so much work (we did everything by hand), but incredibly fun.  Recruiting friends for nightly crafting parties is definitely a great way to get things done.

         And the finished product………..

Sweet Home Chicago

I’ve been meaning to post this for weeks now, but with all the excitement surrounding last week’s ab-fab Hitched event and other very exciting projects we’ve been working on (more on that later), the time just slipped away. Seriously, how do you bloggers keep up with all this blogging?! We’ll get better at this, we promise.

Considering the Bears’ recent Monday Night Football win (ahem, 3-0, Packer fans) there is no better time to share with you a party idea I cooked up while visiting my Windy City home a few weeks ago. Start with the City of Chicago flag color scheme and add a rich, decadent menu (Chicago dogs, deep dish pizza, Eli’s Cheesecake), a healthy dose of hometown sports pride (table names: Bears, Sox, Cubs, Blackhawks, etc.) and a bluesy playlist and you have yourself a Sweet Home Chicago party. Save me a seat at the Bears table!

And it went off without a Hitch!!!

Last night, Robin and I were SO excited to attend the much anticipated Hitched wedding event, put on by Paige Appel and Kelly Harris of Bash, Please and Audrey Woollen of Urbanic Paper Boutique!

The Smog Shoppe in Culver city was the perfect venue to house the spectacular vendors who came together to create this amazing non-traditional bridal event.  We felt like kids in a candy store from the minute we walked in until the time we left!  Congratulations to Paige, Kelly and Audrey for a job well done!

The event design was so tasteful and fun with florals from Brown Paper Design, The Floral Lab, Dandelion Ranch and Succulent Love, vintage rentals from Found Rentals and beautiful details from many other super creative vendors.

And check out this CRAZY innovative paint-by-number guest sign in by the Bash, Please gals!!

How darling is this photo booth by Smilebooth with fabulous decor from Confetti System?  Audrey and Josh are too cute!

What would a great event be with out amazing cocktails (we sipped on Sunday Punches with grapefruit, vodka and rosemary) and fantastic eats?  Heirloom LA‘s carefully planned menu of small bites were more than tantalizing.  We especially loved the delicious steak tartare!

With so many creative minds in one place, the table displays throughout the event were above and beyond gorgeous.  We are head over heals for Jesi Haack‘s use of tin cans and chain in her design with floral design by Dandelion Ranch.  How outrageously cool is Sitting in a Tree‘s yarn filled masterpiece?  We can’t even imagine the time and dedication it took to wrap those chairs in yarn!

The evening’s fashion show, put together and emceed by Grey Likes Weddings, featured gorgeous dresses from Michelle Rahn, Tavin and Stella Alberti Couture and stunning headpieces and sashes from Lo Boheme and Untamed Petals.

No wedding event could be complete without the icing on the cake, literally!  Enjoy Cupcakes brought fun and whimsy together with their superbly crafted cupcakes (our faves were creme brulee and dark chocolate with sea salt) and the adorable trailer they’re served out of.

All in all, Hitched was an amazing evening filled with the most innovative and passionate people in the event industry.  We were thrilled to be in their midst and will be eagerly awaiting the next one!

Style File: InStyle’s Hollywood Makeover Tool

A recent search for a new Fall ‘do led me through the latest fashion magazines and all over the web, Google imaging celebs who have the best styles in the biz. After rifling through countless pics, I was only slightly more sure of which direction I wanted to take, but was uncertain of how the style would look on me. I stopped cold in my tracks when I came upon InStyle.com. Now we all know that InStyle is every girl’s fashion, beauty and all around style mecca. But their team has outdone itself this time with the Hollywood Makeover tool.

Many of us have tried these hairstyle simulators before, with mostly laughable results. Seriously, I remember rolling on the floor as my friends and I would upload our photos and try on hairstyles that looked ridiculous on us. But InStyle’s tool is different because it’s super precise and lets you morph each hairstyle to the correct proportions of your head. You can even alter the color of each style. PLUS, it offers makeup simulation! Haven’t you ever sat watching an award show and wondered if you could pull off the look that Demi was donning? Well stop wondering, sweetheart, because now you can virtually transform yourself, from the neck up at least, into your favorite celebrity! There is even a Lady Gaga simulator. Now just because you can steal her look, doesn’t mean you should.

Brides-to-be, they have a wedding hair section too. Give it a try! I guarantee you’ll get hooked on this tool! Happy styling!
